Research field
For many years he has been actively interested in studying the psychological acoustics and sound field control technology as well as acoustical consultation of performing arts center.
His major research field has been sound field control technology with both and either of physical acoustic and electro-acoustic technique. He has conducted the research of subjective evaluation of concert hall acoustics, variable acoustic control technology with physical means, reverberation enhancement with electro-acoustic technology and sound field auralization of concert hall acoustics. From these researches he developed the Assisted Acoustics System (AAS) for the reverberation enhancement, Image Wall Sound (IWS) System for amphitheater acoustics and Sound Field Synthesizer (SFS) for virtual reality. Besides he conducted the research of 1/10 acoustic scale model and sound field creation with computer simulation for acoustic consultation. During 1987 and 1989 he took charge of the research on the high-fidelity sound field reproduction system for TV with NHK science & technical research laboratories, Tokyo. During 1995 and 2000 he had leaded the cooperative research on active sound field control with Kohgakuin University, Tokyo. He had taken charge of the acoustic consultation of the distinguished performing arts center in Japan, Taiwan and Singapore with the state of the arts technology and latest research results.
His recent interest is focusing the research on the acoustic control technology incorporating physical acoustics, electro-acoustics and information technology. The results will be applied to acoustic environment control of classroom and virtual sound filed creation of distance education, etc.
